16th Staff Meeting Responses
As we have newly switched the server-suggestions channel to a forum, the style of the meeting responses has changed as well. We have only directly responded to the post and initial message. If, in the future, you want a response to a point made inside the discussion thread, please make a new, separate forum post.
ALL PRAISE THE MIGHTY PRAVUS!
I think it’d b better if when the pravbot kicks in to say “praise be” that there be like fireworks or a gif that goes wit it you know
* Yeah, that’s an easy way to spam the chat, so no.
for the love of god
Please add the troll emoji
* Not relevant to the server.
What is and is not Political
server moderation is far too heavy-handed on what is and is not political and oftentimes contradictory. for instance, someone may post a statistic but the moment someone on the other side disputes it is “politics” as if it were not in the first case.
additionally, the conflation of gender and sexuality, religion, and health as inherently “political” topics is stifling and an utter travesty.
it is my suggestion, therefor, and as someone who has #politics-or-debate hidden, to relax restrictions on what is and is not considered politics or debate, for the sake of free civil discussion
* Yes, that would belong in politics or debate. The purpose of the rule is to avoid arguments. If it’s a topic which is often argued by politicians, it will be pushed into #politics.
Any argument or debate in general, belongs there as well. The moment a discussion turns into a debate, you are to move over there.
We will not ease restrictions on it, as we do not wish such conversations in #general. It pushes users away.
If you discuss healthcare, it is political.
If you give some health tips, or talk about an experience you had, it is not.
Use your head.
got an idea
a riddle per week and the winner gets the currency of server
Angle~ I will consider it, as it will take A LOT of effort on my end. Some riddles take hours to construct. And several more to iron out flaws.
prune some of the tavern channels, kinda dead
* The tavern channels, as of right now, are fine as they are.
add LFG: DRG to reaction roles
Its a role but it doesnt seem like you can get it
* Done.
We should probably add _____ to commonly asked questions
In this case I think adding “What can money be used for” would probably be a good idea, because saying “you get 2000 gelts a month for nitro boosting” without explaining what a gelt is probably not the greatest idea
* We are adding an explanation on what gelts are in #rules-tutorial.
Change MEE2 to MEE1 or MEETard
As the title says.
* It’s trying its best.
reconsider how moderation is done
The entire point of having rules is to:
Keep the server safe
Ensure the server stays fun and doesn’t get overrun by toxic fucks.
The first point is technically accomplished, but following the LETTER of the law instead of the spirit actively hurts the servers climate, when the server is supposed to be a place to have F U N.
Warning people hours after they post an easily recognizable meme, where the language is punch line, and only giving them an hour to respond is incredibly petty, while it is overbearingly and “English speaking server”, people live in different timezones and actually have lives, like having a job, sleeping, etc… I myself work 14 hours a day.
The power tripping on draconian enforcement of the rules should stop.
* Just because you, personally, don’t find it fun. Doesn’t mean it’s not fun for others.
It simply means, you’re not our intended audience. We can warn someone not only hours, but days & weeks later, as long as the rules did not change (as users won’t be punished retroactively). A crime does not cease to be a crime due to some time passing. And we don’t need to give time to respond, at all.
That’s why you’re allowed to appeal to /warns by DM’ing Angle directly.
The staff team is being overly nice by giving you a chance to delete it without a warning.
Which will soon end. Staff members will give a warning immediately upon seeing someone breaking the rules. If they see it 10 hours after the fact, the warning will be dropped 10 hours after the fact. Especially, as many times we have to converse with each other for several hours, or days, before reaching a decision. So it is perfectly normal for warns to be dropped even days later. We are not draconian, at all. If you compare us to other servers, we’re light.
If you do the crime, you do the time.
If you find yourself unable to enjoy the server under our very basic rules, too bad.
retire mods who have been on vacation for over a year
what it says on the tin. i dont think theyre going to be active again as moderators any time soon
Angle ~ I purposefully make activity not a requirement to be a staff member.
All that matters is how good you are as a staff member. As long as when you do drop a warning or a delete, you’re doing it correctly, I couldn’t care less how active you are.
We don’t have a cap on staff members, I’m fine with having 50 inactive staff members, who only delete & warn correctly over 10 active staff members who are super active, but make plenty of mistakes. It’s all about quality.
Ban rules
JUST BAN RULES PERIOD
* No.
