Classes
What are they?
Classes are the primary definition of what you can do. There are 12 classes to choose from. Depending on which one you pick, you get access to different passive and active abilities.
Passive abilities are always active and do not require any FP to be activated.
Active abilities have a Player level requirement, which you must meet before you can activate it. They require an upfront payment of FP, which is noted next to the name. Some may require additional FP to increase their effects. You must have enough FP to activate an active ability in order to use it’s benefits.
You must pick up abilities in the order they are listed, even if it was more profitable for you to skip over some.
Active abilities are further split into two categories – restricted and unrestricted. Unrestricted abilities have their effect always available. In this way the are similar to passive abilities. Restricted abilities can be used only sometimes, being either limited by charges, or time between uses.
Some active abilities may also be labelled as spell-like. This means the effect comes from a magical effect, and all things that can detect and alter magic may detect and alter these abilities as well.
Your Player Level is used for determining your maximum level in any one class. Beware, it is not a “total of all classes level summed up” cap. It is a “total level of any one class” cap. If you have multiple classes thanks to multiclassing, each may go up to your Player level (as long as you have the FP for all active abilities).
Class Level (CL)
You class level is the methaphorical level in one single class. It summarizes how strong, experienced and skilled you are in comparison to others in the same class.
It is equal to the player level requirement of the highest active ability in one class the player has. Class level is defined per class, therefore a character may have up to 3 different Class levels. When an ability or spell refers to class level, it by default refers to the one tied to that class.
To put it into comparison with player level, Player level is overall power, while Class level is power level in one category.
Leveling classes and multiclassing
When you pick up your first class, you automatically gain its’ passive abilities. You can further unlock the active abilities it has by paying the FP cost it the ability has.
You can also decide to pick up abilities from different classes. This is called multiclassing. You can only pick up active abilities, but you automatically gain any passive abilities that give access to magic, if the class has any. Like with regular picking of active abilities, you must meet the required Class level to be able to get the ability.
Active abilities cost double the FP normally paid. You must follow the normal rules as per picking up abilities in your base class. You can only multiclass into two additional classes (for a grand total of three classes).
